Wall-E mobile game review

The Wall-E mobile game was released by THQ around the time of the latest successful Pixar animated movie; and unlike many movie licensed games, Wall-E stays very close to the actual movie.

Wall-E moves around between the disused Earth and aboard the AXIOM spaceship helped by his floating futuristic friend EVE. Wall-E forms cubes from rubbish and to throw either with automatic or manual targeting; and he can also roll up into a cube, just like the movie, when he needs to protect himself.

There are different cubes available to Wall-E including energy cubes to activate switches and act as explosives. But sometimes Wall-E can find he is magnetised and is chased by barrels or wayward shopping trolleys.

EVE, on the other hand, flies around shooting lasers, scanning objects and activating switches to create electrical waves. EVE helps Wall-E by helping him achieve high jumps to reach otherwise inaccessible areas of access.

There is two different gameplay modes – puzzle and action, and both are great fun.

The game itself is easy to play but some of the in-game puzzles can be fairly challenging and makes it a good choice for puzzle gamers who like to use their logic to complete each task.

Throughout the game you are confronted with obstacles such as other robots and the diverse puzzles that will have your brain ticking.

If there is a downside to the Wall-E mobile game it is has to be that once you have completed the game there probably isn’t much here to make you want to start over again.

That said, there are hidden ‘collectibles’ and red ‘E’ letters on each level to hunt around for.

There is a multi-player mode which will possibly result in a longer shelf life for the game, though unfortunately this is only available offline.

Overall this is a great game to play but don’t expect it to be your favourite game for too long.
