As many companies appear to be cutting back or contracting as the UK continues to muscle its way through a difficult year, what with petrol price rises and the credit crunch, Game, the video game retailers chain, has announced it is to open 60 more shop across Europe in time for Christmas 2008 in what Game suggest to be a key role in developing the business internationally.
The expansion is set to allow Game to cope with the Christmas rush.
Peter Lewis. chairman of Game, said at a recent general meeting that Game’s capital expenditure for the year, excluding acquisitions, is estimated to be around £42 million.
Supply problems have been blamed for poor international sales figures, with the Nintendo Wii being hard to buy in shops for the past two pre-Christmas periods. This year also saw supply problems for the latest Wii game – Wii Fit.
