Far Cry 2 Map Pack Shows the Power of the Editor

Alan Martin - Tuesday 10.03.09, 11:01am

Far Cry 2 loving PC owners should wake up to a pleasant surprise this morning, as Ubisoft’s Twitter profile tweeted about an un-official map pack from Fileplanet, with their favourite 38 user generated multiplayer levels.

Not much use to me, given I reviewed the 360 version, but you still can’t help but be impressed from some of the screenshots – in particular the map very closely based on Disneyland.

Fileplanet has some outstanding comparison shots, showing you just how close the map-maker has come to the real thing. There’s something about biting bullets out of wounds in your arm in the ‘Happiest Place on Earth’ which makes me feel all warm inside.

The rest of the map pack contains atmospheric market streets, castles and even the deserted city from I Am Legend, leaving me impressed by both the power of the editor and the creativity of those who work with it.

You can download the map pack and see more screenshots at File Planet. I’ve tweeted back to Ubisoft asking if they could be ported to the 360 version’s downloadable map server, but I wouldn’t hold your breath.
